Gender Equity Initiative Staff Communities of Practice
The Margaret Sloss Center for Women and Gender Equity as a part of the Gender Equity Initiative is creating two communities of practice for Iowa State University staff. These communities foster an open dialogue on gender, and gender diversity as a professional development and educational resource to increase prevention efforts focused on sexual and gender-based harassment and violence, intimate partner violence and stalking, healthy LGBTQIA+ relationships, and bystander awareness.
Each community of practice is an academic year long with monthly discussions, reading assignments, individual goal setting, and an online community via Microsoft Teams.
An Introduction to Gender: A community of practice for those that are looking for a good starting point. No previous experience or education in gender, sexuality, and relationship diversity necessary.
Discussions on Gender: A community of practice for those that have some experience or previous education in gender, sexuality, and relationship diversity but would like the opportunity to learn more through discussion with others.
